Computer Literacy for CARA

How to move large files from computer to computer using removable or transportable storage disks and drives.
Western Digital - Removable Hard Disks and USB Hard Disks. Storage size from 40 GigaBytes to 250 Gigabytes in a variety of connection methods(i.e. - USB, Firewire).
Maxtor - Removable Hard Disks and USB Hard Disks. Storage size from 120 GigaBytes to 300 Gigabytes in a variety of connection methods(i.e. - USB, Firewire).

Iomega Zip Disk Drives - Large capacity disks. Work like a floppy disk but hold more.
There are several different sizes of Zip disk drives available:
100 Megabyte
250 Megabyte
750 Megabyte

Other ways to move large files like zipping or packing.
Winrar by rarlab - Will take a larger file and break it down into small manageable chunks and put them back together agiain. Winrar will place the file into a sort of "Zip" format and break that file into many parts. There are freeware versions and more powerful pay versions of this program available. Winrar may also be used to open "zip" files and "packed" file formats. One of my favorite programs for large file movement.
HJSplit - by Freebyte is a multiplatform (Windows, Linux, Unix etc...) freeware program that will split large files into small manageable chunks that are sequentially numbered and then will put them together again. You may split a file into many parts and move them on many discs and then reassemble them again on another (or many) machine(s).
